Evangelism/Outreach
The Evangelism Ministry consists of these separate areas:
Outreach Ministry
Please help us help those in need. Click here for a list of needed items.
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.... The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'" Matt 25:31-40
Vision
To seek the lost by sharing the love of Christ through word and deed.
Mission
Our goals are to show love and compassion to people in need demonstrating Christ likeness. Serving others in hope they will see Christ’s love and be saved.
What We Are Doing
Evangelism/Outreach is part of the NLC community of Christian believers whose primary ministry is to "make disciples of all nations" throughout the Metro East area. The ministry seeks to show love and compassion by praying, providing for the needy, and sharing the word with the believer as well as the unbeliever. God requires us to share the gospel to the lost in word and deed by using our gifts/talents to enhance outreach opportunities in the community to the glory of God.

Homeless... the Poor
God told the Israelites to help the poor among them when they arrived in the Promised Land. This was an important part of possessing the land. Many people conclude that people are poor through some fault of their own. This kind of reasoning makes it easy to close their hearts and hands to the needy. See Deuteronomy 15:11.

Nursing Home, the Sick and the Widow
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. See James 1:27.

Prison Ministry
"I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me." Matthew 25:36
Prison is a great place for the Lord Jesus Christ to help captive men and women to realize that they have no power to direct their lives.
Taking Jesus to the Street
"And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" Roman 10:15 (KJV)

Scripture Foundation
The following scriptures should help understand why we are commanded to care for the poor, needy and the homeless.
Leviticus 19:10 "And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather every grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I am the Lord your God."
Deuteronomy 15:11 "For the poor will never cease from land; therefore I command you, saying, 'You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land."
Proverb 14:31 "He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, but he who honors Him has mercy on the needy."
Galatians 2:10 "They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do."
James 1:27 "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
Psalms 41:1 "Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble."
Matthew 25:40 "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."
